#MICROSOFT MOUSE SOFTWARE PROBLEM SOFTWARE#
The software is easy to setup and in addition to enabling drag and drop of files, you can lock or log in to all PCs from one PC, and as a whimsical bonus is it allows you to customize your Windows logo screen with the daily image from Bing or a local collection of pictures. In fact you can control up to four computers from a single mouse and keyboard with no extra hardware needed – it’s all software magic, developed by Truong Do who by day is a developed for Microsoft Dynamics. What’s more, I can move files between the 2 computers simply by dragging them from one desktop to another. I have two PCs on my desk at work connected to 3 LCD screens and using Mouse Without Borders I can move my mouse between the 3 screens, even though one of them is attached to a different PC from the other two. In a nutshell, it allows you to reach across your PC’s as if they were part of one single desktop. Mouse Without Borders is a project I’ve been familiar with for the last 6 months or so and it’s a wonderfully useful tool. That’s what’s happening today with Mouse Without Borders. In exceptions like this, the Garage community will rally together to and publish it as a standalone public download. 99.9% of the Garage projects either ship as part of a Microsoft project or remain internal, but every once in a while there’s a project that doesn’t fit into any existing Microsoft product which will get a lot of request from employees who want to be able to share it with their friends and families.

In The Garage, employees get together after hours to build whatever they dream up and the results are often impressive. To recap quickly, The Garage is both a physical space in Building 4 at our Redmond HQ, and a company wide program that encourages grass roots invention, tinkering, ideas and incubation of projects. Today it gives me great pleasure to announce a free download resulting from a Garage project.
#MICROSOFT MOUSE SOFTWARE PROBLEM UPDATE#
I posted this in the Microsoft forums as well and had no replies, so I'm going to update it with what I did and maybe it can be of use to someone else.I’ve mentioned The Garage a number of times here on Next and Jay Greene also wrote a story recently about some Garage projects recently for CNET. Whew, I'm relieved I finally managed to fix this and I hope this solution helps anyone else that is having the same issue.
#MICROSOFT MOUSE SOFTWARE PROBLEM INSTALL#
Then lastly, I went back to the setup for the Mouse & Keyboard Center and proceeded with the install and VOILA it installed without any problems. It immediately started installing software for the mouse.
#MICROSOFT MOUSE SOFTWARE PROBLEM DRIVER#
Then in Device Manager I went to Microsoft USB Dual Receiver Wireless Mouse (Mouse and Keyboard Center) and chose Update driver Software, then Browse my computer for driver software and chose the folder where the app extracted its contents to. I made a note of where the files for the software were extracted to, it is a long alpha-numeric name that gets extracted to the C drive. But before clicking on install I plugged in the nano receiver for the mouse which device manager detected. I then started the setup up program for Mouse & Keyboard Center v2.8.106 (ran as Administrator). I went to Device Manager and uninstalled all instances of the Microsoft Mouse under Mice & other pointing devices, under Keyboards & under Human Interface devices. So this is how I finally got this app to install. OMG I finally got it to work! Hip hip hooray (I'm doing the happy dance)!! LOL

Has anyone else encountered a similar issue and if so, what did you do to resolve it? On top of that Windows Update is trying to install some updates for the mouse (and keyboard even though it's only a mouse that I have) and it is giving me error messages as well (see screenshot) I couldn't find any info online for the error message it gives which is Error 0x800705b3. I'm attaching a screenshot of the error message. This Error 1603 seems to be a common problem but I have yet to find a solution to it. Then I read in the Microsoft forums a suggestion of trying to install it by doing a clean boot, but that didn't work either. There is a Microsoft Program troubleshooter that I ran that didn't help one bit. It's a Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500 and the software for it is MouseKeyboardCenter_64bit_ENG_2.8.106 The driver for the mouse works fine and is listed in Device Manager but I would like to have this software as it can enable you to assign certain functions for you mouse keys for specific apps.
#MICROSOFT MOUSE SOFTWARE PROBLEM UPGRADE#
I did a recent in place upgrade for Windows 10 (Anniversary edition) and I was sure that this program was already installed.

I've searched all over the internet to try to find a solution for this Error 1603 that I am getting when I am trying to install Microsoft Mouse & Keyboard Center.
